This workshop offers a fun, hands-on introduction to the world of natural dyeing. We’ll start by exploring the history and process of natural dyes, and how these eco-friendly colours are created from plants and other natural sources.
I’ll introduce you to the materials through a show-and-tell. You'll experience natural dyes in their raw form—starting from the plant, to the extraction process, and finally to how the colours are applied to fabric and garments. You’ll see how these beautiful colours evolve from nature into the textiles we wear.
We’ll dive into the creative exercise. I’ll walk you through the key elements, like gallnut, iron, and guar gum. These will help you understand how different materials interact with dyes and the beautiful, natural effects they can create. Then, we’ll get hands-on with the discharge method—a way of naturally removing colour from fabric. Using pre-dyed fabric sheets, fresh lemons, and a special discharge paste made from citric acid and guar gum, you’ll experiment with making your own patterns and textures. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have your own piece of textile art—something unique, made by you!
This session is for anyone curious about sustainability, plant dyes, or simply looking to explore their creative side in a fun, relaxed environment. Whether you’re an artist, designer, or just someone looking to try something new, you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of natural dyeing and a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
Spaces are limited—book now to explore the art of natural dyeing and create something truly unique!

Natural dyes can be used to color cloth and fibers in a sustainable fashion. Natural dyes stand for the idea that imagination, talent, what we produce, how we dress, and the natural world are all interconnected. We hold genuine beliefs that a connection to history and culture can be made via color, as dyes demonstrate.
